LO2: Obscene Publications/Legal and Ethical considerations.

It is about offending or not offending, it is all about the reaction of the audience, e.g. language, violence, drugs, nudity, racism etc.

For my magazine i will have to take into consideration that my photography could offend people with by the way the models could be portrayed. It wouldn't involve nudity as my magazine is a fashion magazine so all models will be advertising clothing. If all my models are or aren't of colour this could be targeted at a certain group of people and offend others. My photography won't involve violence, language or drugs. My articles won't offend anyone as all articles are about fashion or makeup, but as my magazine is stereotypically aimed at females this may offend a majority of males so i could take into consideration what i can put in my magazine including males and my genre of magazine.

                                                                     Libel Law.

to publish in print (including pictures), writing or broadcast through radio, television or film, an untruth about another which will do harm to that person or his/her reputation, by tending to bring the target into ridicule, hatred, scorn or contempt of others. Libel is the written or broadcast form of defamation, distinguished from slander which is oral defamation.Publication need only be to one person, but it must be a statement which claims to be fact, and is not clearly identified as an opinion. While it is sometimes said that the person making the libellous statement must have been intentional and malicious, actually it need only be obvious that the statement would do harm and is untrue. Proof of malice, however, does allow a party defamed to sue for "general damages" for damage to reputation, while an inadvertent libel limits the damages to actual harm (such as loss of business) called "special damages." "Libel per se" involves statements so vicious that malice is assumed and does not require a proof of intent to get an award of general damages. Libel against the reputation of a person who has died will allow surviving members of the family to bring an action for damages. Most states provide for a party defamed by a periodical to demand a published retraction. If the correction is made, then there is no right to file a lawsuit. Governmental bodies are supposedly immune for actions for libel on the basis that there could be no intent by a non-personal entity, and further, public records are exempt from claims of libel. However, there is at least one known case in which there was a financial settlement as well as a published correction when a state government newsletter incorrectly stated that a dentist had been disciplined for illegal conduct.

My magazine will not include anything un true or anything that will degrade a certain individual. I will only include respectable opinions. But if i go ahead with the article "who wore it best" this could possibly offend a certain person, but i won't include words that will hurt them immensely i would only write honestly in a way that won't humiliate them too much.

                                                                           Copyright.

the exclusive right to make copies, license, and otherwise exploit a literary, musical, or artistic work, whether printed, audio, video, etc.: works granted such right by law on or after January 1, 1978, are protected for the lifetime of the author or creator and for a period of 50 years after his or her death.

As a magazine often uses images taken by professional or other photographers copyright is a big issue. print and image that you haven't obtained rights to and the owner can claim damages. Print an image and mis credit it could do the same.

Copyright will not be an issue in my magazine as all pictures are my own photography and all my articles are written by me and are not pastiched. Models will not be used in my photography without their legal permission.

                                                         Law of contempt.

Under the contempt of court act 1981 it is criminal contempt of court to publish anything which creates a real risk that the course of justice in proceedings may be seriously impaired. It only applies where proceeding are active, and the Attorney General has issued guidance as to when he believes this to be the case, and there is also statutory guidance.
The clause prevents  the newspaper and media from publishing material that is too extreme  or sensationalist about a criminal case until the trial is over and the jury has given verdict.

                                                         Official Secrets Act.

  1. The Official Secrets Act is a stock short title used in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Hong Kong, India and Malaysia and formerly in New Zealand and Canada for legislation that provides for the protection of state secrets and official information, mainly related to national security.
Signing it is intended more as a reminder to the person that they are under such obligations. To this end it is common to sign this statement both before and after a period of employment that involves access to secrets.

Ella-May Mellor

Hello! My name is Ella- May and i am from Chelsea in London, i am 19 years old currently studying Fashion and journalism and university. I have a part time job in a small boutique just on the outskirts of Chelsea. I spend my time shopping and looking for new bargains. If i'm at home i will watch films such as Devil Wears Prada, Sex And The City and Confessions Of A Shopoholic or write on my fashion blog. I buy Vogue and Elle the day it comes out every month and have a giant collection stacked up on my book shelf which i have been collecting since i was about 15 years old. I love to get dressed up and go out with my friends to drink cocktails, i would never leave the house without my makeup perfect, nails done and my favourite Gucci bag.

LO1: Draft ideas of possible articles.

What i could possibly include in my magazine.

*Who wore it best- Two celebrities in the same or similar outfit and who pulls it off better.

*Red Carpet Do's And Dont's. -Successes and disasters on the red carpet.

*High end or High street?- Similar things you can find a lot cheaper but not labelled.

*Makeup tips on a budget.- Don't have much money? i will research tips for makeup that isn't pricey.

*Does this thing actually work?- Reviews on products such as tan, skin products makeup etc and if it actually works or not.

*The price to be perfect: How much it would cost to have surgery to make you perfect in the eyes of society.

My main articles.

The price to be perfect.

I really think most people would be interested in this article because if someone likes something they see on a model that will most likely be a very expensive they will want to find it cheaper. So this article will help people find bargains and not need to spend too much money.

Does this thing really work?

Most people love celebrities and this magazine is about fashion, and red carpet events are the biggest events to show off clothing on a celebrity.

LO1: Synopsis of my magazine.

Name: Bella Bella.

My magazine is based on fashion and will include various different things about fashion. It will also show things about makeup and basic feminine things most females love. My colour theme will be pink and black to connote that it is aimed at women. My magazine is a minimum of 12 pages and goes up in fours as this is how the magazine will be printed and shall be released on a monthly basis however i can only create one issue to meet my criteria.

LO1: Appropriate software to create my product.

Software needed to create my magazine.

*Photoshop.
*Indesign.
*Word.
*Illustrator.
*Bridge.
*Apple Mac.

Functions of these products.

*Indesign- This will help to layout my magazine and make it look it's best.

*Photoshop- Photoshop will be used to edit all my photos and make them look unique in order to grasp attention from the audience.

*Illustrator- will help to make stuff like logos or if little animations are put in.

*Bridge- This will be used to sort out and organise my photos.

*Word- to write the content of the article.

*Apple Mac- Everything will be stored on here and all my work will be processed on this computer.

Difficulty of use.

*Photoshop- I have lots of previous experience with photoshop and have been using it for a year so i shouldn't find using the software too difficult.

*Indesign- i have used Indesign before but i do struggle to use it so that may become an issue.

*Word- I find word very easy to use and i don't think i will find it a difficulty.

*Illustrator- I think it is very hard to use illustrator successfully, it can look messy and not very realistic.

*Bridge- I have used Bridge a lot in the past and find it easy to use.

*Apple Mac- I have an Apple Mac both at home and college and know how to work it.

LO1: Fonts and graphics for my magazine.

The coloured backgrounds with the white rectangles on is the background for my magazine, the pastel colours represent summer and attracts females, i am going to keep this theme all the way through my magazine. The flowers are from Tumblr and i coloured some in pastel pink on photoshop and made some larger than the others.

This is the original flower.

I got this font from dafont and it is called Summer Fall, i used this font on photoshop and filled in the spaces between the letters in hot pink. I did this because it makes it look feminine, summery and attracts a younger female audience.

LO1: Content planning

Images.

Since I will be creating a magazine about fashion all my images will be primary source photography all on different types of fashion of the season. I will be finding my own models to model both high end and high street clothes to put on the cover and the inside of my magazine. All my photos will be edited on photoshop and up to a similar standard.

Content.

My magazine will contain pictures and writing about whats in fashion and what celebrities have been wearing to latest red carpet events. I also want to do a double page spread about a girl who is obsessed with surgery and how much money she has spent on getting work done. The most recent clothing come out from top brands and on the high street, I will compare prices of expensive branded clothing and then find something similar and cheaper on the high street. I will also use my own portrait photography to advertise clothing from certain brands and shops.

Advertisers.

As my magazine is aimed at adult females, i will advertise makeup such as MAC and other makeup brands and fashion designers such as Valentino, Ralph Lauren and Dolce And Gabbana.

Layout.

The layout will consist the same all the way through the magazine and issues. The theme will be relevant and have certain colours to match my genre nicely. all headings and images will be set out in a clean neat way which will consist the same all the way through my magazine.

Covers.

My covers will be my own portrait photography showing the clothing and makeup on the model. The photography will be unique and grab attention from the audience.

Variation of articles.

I will stick to the fashion theme but still have specific articles such as makeup and celebrities.
